STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:
Not In Our Name, Sonoma County is a group of individuals who work from the Peace & Justice Center of Sonoma County. We welcome the involvement of sincere and concerned persons who want to stop the humanitarian tragedies and pre-emptive invasions and attacks on the people of the world. Another world is possible and we pledge to make it real.
We are an anti-war group united behind the goal of averting the loss of life and suffering that would result from a US invasion, new bombing campaign or war on any country. We are firmly opposed to the use of war and killing as a means to achieve political ends. We will work to stop our government from using such means to achieve its goals. We will not silently watch as roundups and detentions of our fellow citizens and immigrants to this country occur. We will not accept police state restrictions in the United States. We will fiercely protect our U.S. Constitution, our Bill of Rights and our Civil Liberties.
We share a belief in the above stated purpose. We wish to share information, jointly organize and lend assistance to/with each other and other groups to achieve our shared goals.
STATEMENT OF INTENT:
We intend to expand, organize and mobilize the peace community within Sonoma County. We will do this through communication, education, training in activism, direct action, civil disobedience and other means. In all our efforts we will use non-violent means.
We intend to broadcast our message as loudly and clearly as we can to the US government: The United States is not united for war. We are serious about stopping war and we will resist.

for the annihilation of families
on foreign soil

will we let fear silence us
Not
by our hearts
will we allow whole peoples
or countries to be deemed evil

We pledge resistance

pledge alliance with those
who have come under attack
for voicing opposition to the war
or for their religion or ethnicity
We
pledge to make common cause
with the people of the world
to bring about justice,
freedom and peace

We have a listserve that we use for communication outside of meetings. To join the Not In Our Name, Sonoma County general information and announcement listserve, please send a blank email to: nionsc-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. You will then recieve a confirmation email which you need to REPLY to. After that you are subscribed! You will then receive posts from the group as well as be able to post to the group.

We have a second meeting each month to discuss issues, ideas, and actions
or to watch meaningful videos or listen to tapes with discussion following.
These meetings are usually held in the third week of the month and are
announced on our "events" page and on our listserve. They are
the heart of NIONSC and certainly not your everyday meeting. Don't miss
out!

Tax deductible checks to help support NIONSC and the work that we accomplish must be written payable to: The Peace & Justice Center of Sonoma County (in the memo field of the check you must write NIONSC or Not In Our Name Sonoma County). We need volunteers to help with data entry, research/writing, creating
graphics, participate in flyering staffing the NIONSC table at any upcoming
events. We can use your help to educate and communicate with the American
people and so much more. Now more than ever we need your support and involvement
to reach millions more people.
